Third Report Thailand September 2025 Sunday 21 Sept Today did some shopping and bought a heavy jacket to wear to eat in the restaurant in the hotel in the mornings. The food is delicious however it is like stepping into a refrigerator for an El Paso person. Also bought a shirt. I have a favorite place where there are good discounts on items. Their big box department stores wanted my life savings and though I need to spend it, not for clothes please. My favorite Indian restaurant from February let me down. I asked for non spicy food and it was more spicy than I wanted. The “lassie” drink was good.
Tonights big activity was a floor shore at Tiffanies. The show is by transvestites and they have been good over the years that I have attended them. This years was the best floor show I ever seen. The costumes, dancing, mime singing were terrific. Actually spectacular. The actors met with the audience afterwards for pictures and I snapped a few. I walked too much today and am at the close to 14,000 level.
Tomorrow is duplicate bridge and should be fun.
22 Sept, Monday bridge Three tables for bridge and was able to play with “Anal” from Sweden. Really a good bridge player. We were not last.
23 September Tuesday A really different day playing golf in Thailand. I was invited to play golf with Jeremy, our bridge Director and his group. I almost did not go because he said that afterwards they met at a restaurant and drank bottles of wine along with eating food. Since I am unable to drink alcohol with medications I take, I almost did not show up. Also, his condo is a long ways out of town and I was unconfident that I would be able to find it. I consulted Linda and she said to do it and I did.
I took a Bolt taxi on a lengthy drive out of Pattaya City for a meager price and ended up sitting on the bottom floor of this very nice looking condo. There is a very scenic entry way of aged trees on each side of the road leading into this high rise condo (s). So, I am sitting calling up to Jeromy’s condo with my golf clubs thinking I could even be at the wrong location. Jeromy answers and says he will be done stairs in 5 minutes which he was. He gets his car, pulls up and we drive to the Thai Navy golf course. I had not played at this course in years and when I had played at it, it was not well maintained. The lay out is spectacular. It is the official course of the Thai Navy. I tried to pay for gas and Jeromy would not take any money.
At the course we played with Jeromy’s group. Two Americans and an Englishmen from England. Roy, Bob, Paul and Jeromy. They are all very pleasant to socialize with and we had a good time playing golf. This is the first time I played golf in Thailand where my caddy drank beer. She had two cans to my great surprise. I was surprised that I played as well as I did considering my left hand injury. I have not been able to play golf for the last few weeks. After golf we went to a restaurant on the water, dock, with terrific views and ate dinner. The group had multiple bottles of wine and drank profusely. Jeromy’s Thai wife joined us. And another Thai wife showed up. The conversation was loose and hit many, many topics. One of the topics that amazed me was the close attachments that this group has with their caddies. They only played with their specific caddy and tipped them significantly for Thai standards. They were attached to their caddies and really did not want to play golf unless they played with their particular caddy. Looking back at it, the golf play, the caddies seemed to be especially made up to play with our group regarding make up and dress. We finished a late night of partying and I was driven home to my condo. I much more nice evening then I expected and glad I went.
