Third Report Thailand Trip 2022
Thailand trip Report three 2022.
Monday July 18th. So today is a duplicate bridge day and it was a challenge to get there. Google maps disclosed that I could walk there in 30 minutes so I tried using my phone to get there. It kept taking me in circles and did not work. I am currently at over 8,000 steps for the day and it has not worked out. I did find it this morning by using locals and a motorcycle taxi who took me there. I stayed briefly and came back to the hotel and then, armed with more information took a motorcycle taxi to get there. Got to the Meatstuff restaurant too early and had a yogurt, cereal meal. It was good. I then had a long wait. Better too early then to miss it.
The bridge group has drastically changed. It used to have a large hall filled with players. They were a mostly behaved group with some occasional disruptive people present. Today there was only 7 people there. I played with Bjorn from Norway who was bored with the whole process playing with me. There are some world class players who play here and I think he is one of them. He yawned through out our game and said he was not tired and was bored. Thank you Bjorn. We played a lot of bridge hands and with only seven people, we were constantly being called to be dummy at the other table. I had taken a no doze and managed to stay awake (this is my normal sleep time at home). It was difficult. At the end of the round, John who I have known for years (retired Major from the Australian Army) gave me a ride to the baht bus road and I got a cheap ride back to the hotel area. Soi Dianna.
I think I will go sign up to play golf with another group to play on Thursday. It is a new location and will be difficult to get there. Not as difficult as the bridge group’s new playing location.
Strongly need a massage tonight.
July 19, 2022, Tuesday. Played with Tropical golf group today.. I contributed to the winners. This is my third day here and with the time change, jet lag, had trouble connecting to the ball. On the last hole was unable to connect to the ball. My body said no way. I could not make it do what I have spent much of my life doing, striking golf balls. It was not embarrassing, it was disgusting. Even with a cart, I walked 14,181 steps today. I got a massage this evening and that still was not enough to get through my discomfort. Will play bridge tomorrow. I have arrangements to play golf on Thursday with a new group. My caddy today was extremely professional and did every thing a caddy does over here and did it well. She would get at mad at me when I did not hit the ball well. She learned my game well enough to tell me which club to use under each circumstance. Gave Mashi the Japanese tailor who has admired by wood turning a box and he was very appreciative. I was going to give a box to a person who I had played bridge with for years and discovered that he had died last year from a heart attack. Too bad. Today we played golf at the Bangpakong,, Riverside Golf Course. And it is immaculate. Terrific. While riding to and from golf today, I was able to talk to an old acquaintance from Switzerland named Walter. He has always been extraordinarily nice.
